Michael – Consultant Test Management

Like most people in the software testing profession, you could say I fell into the role.  Originally a software development consultant, I found myself more suited to QA, and transferred to a career in software testing. My preference for consulting later led me to approach Mission who are considered the best in the business; a decision I have certainly not regretted!

During my time in Mission, I've worked with many prestigious clients for whom I would not otherwise have had the opportunity to work.  The company’s ethos of support and career development has led to me successfully delivering many high-profile testing projects.

I'm currently conducting the role of a Test Coordinator in a London Insurance company and enjoying the new challenges and responsibilities that come with it.  With the help of Mission, I intend to progress further into Test Management, and look forward to the opportunities ahead.

Amit – Consultant, Test Management

I joined Mission in October 2006; prior to this I worked as a test analyst within the financial services sector. As I have had experience of insurance systems, my first placement with Mission is working for an established insurance company.

The decision to join Mission was not difficult. I welcomed the opportunity to work with different companies, in different market sectors, and to broaden my experience. I am keen to develop, not only my knowledge of software and testing, but also to enhance my softer management skills like relationship building and communicating with senior professionals on client sites.  The aim is to advance my professional reputation within Mission and amongst our clients.

Mission understands the importance of professional development for their consultants. Consequently, Mission actively encourages consultants to gain professional qualifications such as the ISEB/ISQTB, project management, and Mercury CPC. By encouraging their staff to gain these qualifications, Mission consultants develop a sense of achievement and keep pace with developments within professional testing.  This enhances Mission’s service capability.

Mission is a fast, dynamic and specialised consultancy, which employs knowledgeable high calibre consultants. In the next few years and beyond, I believe Mission will continue to recruit the highest calibre candidates and also attract new business from across the UK and further afield.

Rachel – Consultancy Project Administrator

Mine is a relatively new role within Mission; as Consultancy Services has grown, so has the need for project support.  In 2005, after spending 5 years in teaching, a career change was in order.  Mission was open minded enough to recognise the potential I offered in terms of transferable skills; organised, reliable, calm under pressure and an attention to detail that verges on the superhuman!  Multi tasking is an added bonus.

Quality of deliverables is my main focus, developing our intellectual property and providing support to people under pressure.  I like to bring a friendly, positive approach to my work and readily take ownership of issues that come my way at short notice.

The opportunity to develop my role has been an exciting part of working for Mission.  I have been given the freedom to take this role in the direction I felt would most benefit the business and offer me job satisfaction.  We are currently formalising our QA process into a Project Office function to ensure that the highest quality standards are achieved.  There is still room for development as we fine tune the process.  The most exciting and challenging part of this development is capturing the expertise that already exists in the minds of our consultants and making it available to all via our consultancy support website so we deliver at an even higher level.  Our objective is to enable high performance to be a cross-company standard rather than simply relying on the expertise and commitment of key individuals.  It takes the pressure off so they can do what they do best.

Keith – Principal Consultant, Assurance

I joined Mission in 2004 as a Senior Consultant and also as the Company’s Quality Manager. Mission is now an ISO 9001:2000 certified company and I am proud to have been part of the development of its knowledge base and transition to a recognised standard of quality.

As a Principal Consultant, I have had the opportunity to work directly or indirectly on many interesting high profile projects, some requiring the development of new skills or enhancing existing ones. I enjoy the variety inherent in consultancy engagements with Mission clients.  As a key player in the development of the assurance and metrics areas, working in Mission allows me to indulge in the perfect blend of quality, assurance and testing work.

Mission has an open supportive culture and is prepared to reward hard work and innovation. It is large enough to offer a real challenge but yet has retained its friendly and innovative character.  The Company is continuing to grow and progress and I want to grow with it.

Renuka – Consultant, Test Management

I joined Mission in 2006 as a Consultant. Most of my previous experience has been with large Indian and American firms. Coming from a large firm environment, I found the experience of working for a smaller specialist company (within a larger group) to be very entrepreneurial and friendly. Within a short period of time I have worked in a range of projects spanning several areas of the insurance industry. It has provided me with an opportunity to gather immense knowledge on the industry as well as on the business systems connected with this industry.

The breadth of experience that I have gained from working with Mission is noteworthy. The camaraderie of a smaller, people-focused company has accelerated my personal development and enriched my overall work experience. It has been rewarding working with a variety of teams.

Lawrence – Consultant, Test Management

I joined Mission one year ago, prior to which I had been an applications developer and tester within the documentation, information and content solutions industry. Just prior to this I had been travelling around Taiwan and South East Asia for 18 months teaching English!

My current role at Mission is as a senior Test Analyst.  Initially, I performed test analyst activities on proprietary XML-Postscript (Doc1) conversion software. Soon after, I progressed into multiple roles, from senior test analyst, working with a variety of interfaces, to team lead with responsibilities including planning, estimating test effort and assessing requirements.

I joined Mission because  they immediately stood out from other software testing consultancies. The recruiters knew testing and the market for testing roles.  They found me a role that matched my skills and aspirations, and genuinely seemed to care about my future success.

I enjoy working for Mission as the roles I have been given have allowed me to develop new skills and have provided me with a constantly evolving and challenging work environment. I am currently in the process of taking on a new team lead role, and I hope that within the next few years this development will lead me into more senior test management roles.

Neil – Senior Consultant, Technical Testing

I started at Mission as a Consultant in May, 2004. My background was as a junior performance tester working in a consultancy environment. I had worked alongside a number of Mission consultants on previous projects. I liked the people and the professionalism of the company; Mission seemed the right choice.

Throughout the last two and half years, I have worked with over twenty different Mission clients. These assignments have varied vastly from short, single day projects to a 12 month assignment. I have developed further both technically in performance testing, and managerially with experience of team and test management. Six months ago I was promoted to Senior Consultant and now I am managing a performance team for a large blue-chip client, across multiple sites and multiple projects.

There is a real culture of innovation and professionalism at Mission. Every client and project is different, providing new challenges and experiences. I can see real opportunities ahead to broaden my role and develop further skills. I would like to continue to develop my technical skills across different projects and also increase my exposure to testing process and team management. Ultimately I would like responsibility for larger teams in test management roles.
